The phone number field allows you to store phone numbers in GraceBlocks. Use the Phone number field to store valid phone numbers (instead of plain text). To do this, a builder must choose the Phone number field type when managing fields.
This article reviews the properties of phone number fields and provides tips to aid in user adoption of this type of field.
You can view the available properties for phone number fields on the Edit field properties modal when you select Field type of Phone number.
After specifying a Field name (which controls how this field is referenced inside the tab) and that the field is of the type Phone number, you can toggle on More field attributes to show the options described in the following table. After you set the values you want, click Save.
Property | Description |
Private field |
Use this setting if only authorized users should be able to access this field. If this is applied, the field will be locked out from the user's view entirely unless they are authorized to access private fields. This setting works in conjunction with the security access control tab setting: View private fields. If a field is private, only users authorized to view private fields will be able to view, edit, see history, filter, or download this data. Click here to learn more.
🔔 If the phone number field is set to private and the messaging thread field type is enabled, consider setting this to private as well if users should not see a phone number. Otherwise, phone numbers will display on the messaging tab for anyone with access to this tab. |
Is a mobile number |
By default, this toggle is on. To have this field leveraged with the messaging thread field type, this toggle must be on, indicating that a number is a mobile number that can receive text messages. If you do not want the field available to select when creating messaging thread fields, toggle this option to the off position. |
Default country | This value defines the country code associated by default with each phone number. This value is assumed when copying and pasting phone numbers into the field but can be manually changed by users when they interact with the field. |
Field callout |
If you enter any text into the Field callout textbox, the information (i) icon appears to the left of the field name, and the text you entered displays when users move the cursor over this icon. Enter text here if you want to provide information to help the user learn more about how to use the field. |
🔔 If the width of the phone number field is too small, you will not see the country selector when working in spreadsheet view. Make the width of the field wider if you need to access the country selector.

🔔 During copy and paste, checks and cleanup will occur. Only valid numbers that align with the default country will be accepted. Other entries will cause an error and prevent the copy/paste action from working because the number is not valid or does not align with the default country code.
🔔 If a data-conversion impact can occur during a field type change to or from a phone number field, a warning message accompanies the field-conversion process to ensure that the builder understands what to expect. It's important to read these messages carefully. Users must follow the instructions provided on the warning page to complete field change transactions.
