To support a more secure environment, Zone owners have the option to activate multi-factor authentication on accounts. Users can also individually turn on this option if desired. When the multifactor is activated, users will have a code sent to their mobile phone which they will be prompted to provide while logging in.
This article explains the following:
Multifactor rules
- When multi-factor is turned on, any users affected by the setting change will be prompted to provide their phone number if it's not already on file with their next login.
- Multifactor can be activated by Zone Owners by going to Zone settings.
- If a user belongs to at least one Zone where the multifactor setting is enabled, they will be required to use multifactor when logging in.
- The multifactor setting can also be activated by any user for their personal account under user profile settings even if the Zone setting for Multi-factor is not turned on.
- When the Multif-factor setting is on, it only applies to direct login accounts (users who log in by entering a username or password). Users who use the Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft accounts should ensure these methods are fully secured and have multi-factor enabled if that is desired.
Finding the multifactor settings
- Zone owners control the multi-factor option by navigating to the Zone Properties section of the Zone Settings page. Click here to review how to control this.
- Individual users can also turn this on for their personal profile, even if no Zone mandates multifactor. This can be done by navigating to user profile settings. Click here to review how to review/control this.
🔔 Users who use multifactor should ensure that the phone short code number: 44398 is recognized as a valid number by their phone. If a person replies "Stop" or otherwise has the number flagged as spam, it will block them from being able to receive the authentication code required for sign in.
